BIG 25 – Blade’s 25 Year Program
The Blade Electron is a watershed development in automotive market practice. For years academics have put forward the concept of extending the life of cars from 10 years to 25 years and even more to reduce their environmental impact. The Hot Rod industry is an example where vehicles are maintained and kept on the road in prime condition 60 years after manufacturer. AVAILABLE NOW - NEW ELECTRON MkVI
New generation Electron Mk VI features a punchy 70kW motor, giving sporty performance (0-60kmh in 5 sec), top speed of up to 160kmh and a range of 160km in real world urban driving conditions (100km on highway).

It will be the first commercial Australian EV powered by new generation compact and lightweight LiFePO4 lithium ion batteries. These, combined with a latest generation TM4 motor and controller, result in 160Nm of available torque.
We believe the Electron MkVI to be the most environmentally friendly car available in Australia, offering genuine emissions free driving when charged with 100% renewable energy (available from any Australian power outlet).
The new configuration enables a 3-speed semi-automatic transmission where a single ratio is used for 0-100kmh – ideal for an urban runabout. Two higher gears make freeway and highway driving easy and energy efficient, and an extra-low gear is provided for situations such as steep drives.
Electron is a new vehicle, proven safe and manufactured under Federal DoT unlimited second stage licence 41245.

Electron – the first Australian electric car to be crash tested |
Blade achievements …
Blade Electric Vehicles (Blade) began development of battery electric vehicle (BEV) technology in 2006 at a time when few people thought it either relevant or practical.
In 2007 Blade pioneered the use of Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries and AC induction drive systems in Australia.
In 2008 Blade manufactured and sold Australia’s first commercially available BEV and was the first to export an Australian made BEVs overseas.
In 2009 Blade was the first Australian BEV developer to take safety seriously by crash testing its vehicle.
In February 2010 Blade was the first Australian manufacturer to achieve a low volume license for up to 100 all-electric vehicles per year.
With the Mark V Electron, Blade produced the safest electric car in Australia in July 2010.
In October 2010, Blade was granted a Federal licence for unlimited production of the Electron Mark V.
During 2010 and 2011 Blade will achieve a number of local and world firsts in BEV design and manufacture, including the first EV with NCM lithium ion batteries and an Australian designed and built motor controller.
